Psychoeducational and Psychological Evaluations

AREAS OF FOCUS:

  • ADHD evaluations (adults & children)

  • Learning Disability evaluations (dyslexia, reading disability, math disorder/dyscalculia, disorder of written expression)

  • Psychological evaluations (evaluations that assess the impact of anxiety, depression, and trauma on one’s learning)

  • Psycho-educational evaluations for submission to high stakes testing agencies (SAT, GRE, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT)

  • Updated psycho-educational evaluations for high school juniors and seniors to assist with college-level programming (e.g., accommodations, course scheduling)

  • Classroom observations in elementary school settings to assist with diagnostic assessment and recommendations

EVALUATIONS:

  • Comprehensive evaluations involve approximately 8-10 hours of face-to-face contact with clients and include:

  • Thorough diagnostic interview (with parents, adults, teenager, child)

  • Comprehensive assessment of intellectual abilities, academic achievement, attention/concentration, executive functioning, memory, language, visual-perceptual skills, visual-motor skills, and social-emotional functioning

  • Comprehensive 90-120 minute feedback session (includes reviewing report with family, highlighting learning profile of strengths and weaknesses, and discussing recommendations)

  • Separate feedback session for child (15-30 minutes) is included in assessment if family desires

  • Comprehensive reports typically take 3-4 weeks to complete after final testing appointment

  • Typically 2-3 days of testing

  • In some situations, a briefer, targeted ADHD evaluation can be done that might require less testing (4-5 hours of face-to-face contact)

REPORTS INCLUDE:

  • Documentation of disability/diagnosis and DSM codes

  • Recommendations for school accommodations (may help with IEP and 504 planning in elementary, middle, and high school) and in college

  • Recommendations to help with the transition to middle school, high school, or college

  • Assistive technology recommendations (apps, software, referrals to specialists)

  • Recommendations to assist with executive functioning (e.g., techniques to help with time management, organization, planning, referrals to specialists)

  • Referrals to psychiatrists, therapists, tutors, executive functioning coaches, and other professionals
